Tyler, The Creator was polite but firm in his declining of a TikToker’s attempt at using him for content.
In a video shared to TikTok on Thursday (April 2) by @jackbanana, Tyler and Travis “Taco” Bennett are seen walking down the street in the Beverly Hills area, at which point they’re approached by the self-described content creator, who appears to be filming with smartglasses of some sort.
“Tyler, how you doing?” the person recording is heard asking, to which Tyler responds with a friendly “What’s up, bro?”
From there, the person recording introduces themselves.
“My name is Jack,” they’re heard saying. “I’m from Tanzania, but I create content online. I wanted to ask you this: What’s the most expensive purchase you’ve ever made?”
Tyler declines the question before seemingly attempting to continue his walk.
“Oh, I don’t do none of that,” the three-time Grammy winner says.
“I don’t fuck with that, bro,” he adds before urging the person who approached him while recording to “take care.”
At this point, the clip seemingly turns into an apparent ad for some form of online gambling, with Tyler expressing understandable frustration at the nature of this interaction. Though it’s hard to make out, it sounds like Tyler points out that his permission wasn’t obtained for this type of footage.
“Nah, you didn’t ask that, bro,” Tyler says. “And I don’t like you with them [glasses]. Talk to me. Take them glasses off, bro. No, I don’t fuck with that. … You don’t know me.”
Notably, in tracks like “Colossus” and “Noid,” Tyler has made it clear that he’s not fond of these sorts of interactions, a fact that was swiftly pointed out amid social media chatter about the clip on Thursday.
