Tyler, the Creator Takes Fans Deeper Into 'Chromakopia' With "NOID" Video Featuring Ayo Edebiri

Tyler's new album is out next Monday, marking a well-timed middle finger to the industry standard of Friday release dates.

Ayo Edebiri is a tear-shedding, drink-spilling, gun-waving obsessed fan in Tyler, the Creator’s latest taste of Chromakopia.

Monday, Tyler followed up last week’s “St. Chroma” video with the rollout of “NOID.” The Tyler-directed video, surely another of many to come, arrives one week ahead of Tyler’s new album. The move from Tyler toward a non-Friday rollout is in line with comments he's made on the industry-wide practice in the past, namely during a 2023 Nardwuar interview.

As the song’s title makes clear, “NOID” sees Tyler exploring feelings of paranoia, with the track’s narrator coming clean about his thoughts of neighbors he believes “want me dead.”

I can't even buy a home in private
Home invaders got my brothers dyin'
Notice every car that's drivin' by
Think my neighbors want me dead
I got a cannon underneath the bed
Triple checkin' if I locked the door
I know every creak that's in the floor
Motherfucker, I'm paranoid

Edebiri’s appearance in the latest video is potentially (hopefully) a hint at what’s to come with the larger Chromakopia visual experience. The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning The Bear actress, notably, is joined in the acclaimed FX mega hit’s larger ensemble by Odd Future alum Lionel Boyce. In June, Tyler was in attendance for The Bear’s Season 3 premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles.

Tyler himself will soon be seen in Josh Safdie’s Timothée Chalamet-led Marty Supreme, which was recently reported to have started production in the New York City area. The film is distributed by A24, the same studio behind Josh and Benny Safdie’s Uncut Gems from 2019.

Fans have speculated that vocals from the famously elusive Frank Ocean may play a part in Chromakopia, though official word on any such thing hasn’t been shared as of this writing. Some have gone as far as to speculate that Frank can be heard on the music teased thus far, but again, no official messaging backs this up for now. Worth pointing out, however, is that Tyler previously teased his new album as having been “written, produced, and arranged” alone.
