Sexyy Red is highlighting the accuracy of a Cookie Monster pajamas-wearing, Cheetos-eating, early morning fight-having summation of what it really takes to “understand” her.
Over the weekend, Sexyy, fresh off a pair of guest appearances on Drake’s surprise Maid of Honour and Habibti albums, gave a timely boost to producer Popstar Benny’s vivid—and, for many, deeply relatable—description of the type of high school experience that lays the foundation for an informed appreciation of the Grammy-nominated artist.
“Y’all don’t understand sexyy red cuz y’all didn’t go to a high school where a girl wearing cookie monster pajamas and eating hot cheetos would get into a fight at 7:45am,” reads the original post, seen below.
“Dis so accurate it don’t make no sense,” Sexyy later responded.
To be clear, there are zero mentions of Cookie Monster pajamas—or, for that matter, Cheetos—in Sexyy’s latest Drake collaborations. On Maid of Honour, one of three new Drizzy albums launched Friday (May 15), Sexyy appears on album standout “Cheetah Print.” On Habibti, the shortest in length of the projects, she pops up for “Hurrr Nor Thurrr.”
Shortly after Iceman and company were unleashed to streaming services, Sexyy joined in on the promo with some playful marketing of her own. In images shared to social media, she was seen posing in front of a billboard that read “GO GET MY BABY DADDY ALBUM WTF,” complete with a photo of her and the 6 god.
Last month, Sexyy rolled out a new full-length of her own, Yo Favorite Trappa Favorite Rappa.
