J. Cole, after years of intense speculation among fans, has officially announced his The Fall-Off album. Alongside an announcement video, complete with narration from comedian Dan Harumi, Cole also confirmed a release date of Feb. 6.
To say this marks a watershed moment for fans, not to mention for Cole himself, would be an understatement. Speculation has been in motion for nearly eight years thanks to the closing track on Cole’s KOD album, “1985,” notably subtitled as the “intro” to The Fall-Off. Scattered updates have followed since then, including in a lengthy Players' Tribune essay penned by Cole back in 2020.
“On my career bucket list, there remain a few more items to check off before I give myself permission to enter whatever the next chapter of my life may be,” Cole said at the time, firmly contributing to the sense of finality that surrounds the project. “However, as I approach the summit of this mountain, I still find myself staring at that other one in the distance, wondering if I can climb.”
Before The Fall-Off arrives in February, now’s the time to complete your Cole collection with physical copies of The Off-Season and other entries from his catalog, dating all the way back to 2011’s Cole World: The Sideline Story.
