J. Cole Announces Release Date for Long-Awaited 'The Fall-Off' Album, Shares Teaser

Cole is back.

J. Cole's long-awaited new album The Fall-Off will arrive next month.

Wednesday (Jan. 14), Cole shared a teaser trailer for the speculating-spurring project, complete with a newly confirmed release date of Feb. 6. The album follows 2021’s The Off-Season and 2024’s Might Delete Later mixtape.

When sharing the teaser, soundtracked by narration focused on the natural rise and fall of fame, Cole directed fans to this site. On it, you can currently find a pre-order for The Fall-Off on vinyl.

“This is the first-ever pressing of The Fall-Off,” reads the product description. “This limited edition was assembled under the strongest security measures possible in hopes to preserve the reveal of album artwork and music until the moment they were intended to be released. Production demanded full-scale, around-the-clock security in multiple facilities across North America to provide the best chance of success. With special packaging modifications, we are calling this first pressing the ‘Stealth Edition,’ and it will be the only time the album will be available in this form.”

The wait for The Fall-Off has been a long one, with fans first alerted to its eventual arrival thanks to “1985,” the closing track to Cole’s 2018 album KOD. Subtitled “Intro to The Fall-Off,” the song’s initial release was quickly followed by an X update from Cole in which he let fans know he was “workin’ on it.”

Cole also referenced the album in several subsequent verses, including on his and Drake’s 2023 hit “First Person Shooter,” like so:

“I’m namin' the album The Fall-Off, it's pretty ironic 'cause it ain't no fall-off for me”

Cole’s return is set to be joined this year by a number of other high-profile releases, including Drake’s Iceman and the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s Bully. First up, though, is ASAP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb, out this Friday (Jan. 16).
