There’s a whole lot of booming going on in J. Cole’s recent Apple Music interview with Nadeska Alexis.

The interview, as previously reported, spans more than an hour and finds Cole conceding that he’s “kind of nervous” about sitting down for what marks his first formal interview in “mad long.”

Upon the interview’s release on Friday (March 20), fans were quick to devour it, leading to nearly 600,000 views on YouTube as of this writing. Some viewers were just as quick to highlight Cole’s fondness for the word “boom,” most significantly doubled and tripled versions (namely “boom-boom-boom”), leading to the vaguely mathematically concerned article you’re reading right now.

By Complex’s very rough estimation, there are at least 17 instances of this fondness for booming in action. That number increases significantly, of course, if you were to count every individual instance of “boom” instead of simply grouping together each “boom-boom” or “boom-boom-boom” as a single example.

Naturally, a fan was kind enough to edit together a sampling of Cole’s Apple Music-delivered booms, ultimately earning a laugh from Dreamville co-founder Ibrahim Hamad.

Cole’s The Fall-Off, a double album, arrived in February. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, with Cole promoting its release with the Trunk Sale Tour, giving fans a series of unique opportunities to directly interact with him while purchasing physical copies of the project.

Next up is a lengthy world tour starting at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. For a full list of dates and ticket details, see here.
