Do not ask Cam’ron about any lyrics prior to his sophomore album, S.D.E.
Toward the end of the latest episode of It Is What It Is with Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson and Nick Dais, the latter of whom is currently filling in for Mase, a key line from Cam’s “Confessions,” a track from his 1998 studio debut Confessions of Fire, was brought up. As fans are aware, the track’s first verse finds Cam rapping about his grandfather making him angry, at which point he retaliates by urinating “inside his orange juice.”
But, as Cam claimed when playfully confronted with the line nearly 30 years later, he has no memory of its inception. Furthermore, its central claim is a falsehood, at least according to Cam himself.
“I can’t remember where my brain was at at that time,” he said, laughing. “I’m not sure, I’m not sure. I don’t remember, man. I don’t even remember that lyric.”
During the sessions for his first studio album, Cam added, he found himself in a situation in which he had to “follow some ideas” that other people in the room had, suggesting what ultimately made it onto the record wasn’t entirely his doing.
“I can’t even respond to that. … I didn’t do it, though,” he said, also noting that he’s open to take questions about the rest of his discography, just not the Confessions of Fire period.
Incredibly, this isn’t the first time Cam has found himself sharing a headline with the act of urination.
