Soulja Boy is pushing back on PlaqueBoyMax's claim that he's the first streamer ever nominated for a Grammy.

The moment unfolded on social media after PlaqueBoyMax celebrated his nomination, posting that he was the "FIRST STREAMER EVER NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMYYY." Soulja Boy quickly jumped into the conversation with a blunt response.

"Cap 🧢 I did that in 2008," Soulja wrote, referencing his own Grammy nomination years earlier.

Soulja Boy was nominated for Best Rap Song at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards for his breakout hit "Crank That (Soulja Boy)," a track that helped launch him into mainstream stardom and reshaped viral music culture in the 2000s.

He wasn’t a streamer then, of course, as the concept didn’t exist. Soulja became a streamer long afterwards, announcing his partnership with streaming platform Kick just last month. He joined the company’s Kick Partner Program.

Meanwhile, PlaqueBoyMax was nominated at the at the 2026 Grammy Awards in the Best Dance/Electronic Recording category for "Victory Lap," alongside electronic heavyweights Fred again.. and Skepta.

However, the nomination didn't result in a win as the award ultimately went to Tame Impala for their track "End of Summer." PlaqueBoyMax addressed the loss head-on during his livestream, keeping his spirits high and encouraging his community to stay motivated.

"Chat we lost. No rigged comments you feel me. N***as won fair and square it happens," he said. "It is like damn though, fuck. We not ending though, we hitting the red carpet. Don't miss your next blessing cause you're worried about the last loss n***a. Don't make one L seven. Just keep high spirits you feel me? Keep working bro."

Whether or not the "first streamer" title holds up under scrutiny, PlaqueBoyMax's Grammy nomination marks a major milestone for digital creators stepping into traditional music spaces.
