Police scanner audio has revealed that a taser seems to have been deployed and a helicopter was called during Lil Nas X's dramatic arrest after walking around Los Angeles completely nude.
The 90-second audio, obtained by TMZ, captured dispatchers and officers coordinating the arrest of the 26-year-old singer. Authorities reported seeing him walking down Ventura Blvd. toward Universal Studios around 4 a.m. Thursday morning, while "completely nude" and in "the middle of the road."
"They're requesting a use of force," a dispatcher can be heard saying.
An officer then requests a supervisor, a helicopter, and eventually a rescue ambulance for a male, approximately 40 years of age, described as "conscious and breathing." In the background, a sound resembling a taser gun going off can be heard.
The scanner also captures the suspect asking if officers knew his name, before saying: "Nas." Earlier that morning, witnesses had filmed Lil Nas X during his erratic stroll through Los Angeles.
In one video, the "Old Town Road" star wore only underwear and cowboy boots while speaking to a passerby about a "party" and demanding their phone.
"Gimme that phone, so I can throw it," he said. "I wanna throw it far away, so you never see it again. I don't like phones. Don't miss the party tonight, why are you still here?"
Police say Lil Nas X charged at responding officers before being hospitalized for a potential overdose. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery on a police officer and held without bail over the weekend.
On Monday, he pleaded not guilty to four felony counts, including three counts of battery with injury on a peace officer and resisting an executive officer. His bail, initially set at $300,000, was reduced to $75,000.
