Machine Gun Kelly is leaning into a heavier sound, teaming up with Fred Durst for a new single that taps directly into the spirit of late-’90s nu-metal.
The track, titled “Fix Ur Face,” pairs MGK’s genre-blurring style with Durst’s unmistakable presence, delivering a loud, aggressive record built on distorted guitars and high-energy delivery. It marks one of MGK’s most direct nods to the era that helped define artists like Durst and Limp Bizkit.
The collaboration isn’t coming out of nowhere as the two have crossed paths for years, including sharing stages earlier in MGK’s career. Behind the scenes, MGK worked with a familiar group of collaborators on the record, continuing the creative partnerships that have shaped his recent releases.
The rollout for the single also includes a black-and-white music video directed by Sam Cahill, shot across multiple cities during MGK’s recent tour stops. The visual focuses on crowd energy with fans pressed against barricades, chaotic live moments, and a sense of constant motion that mirrors the track’s tone.
Street artists also contributed to the visual, adding custom artwork and styling that ties into the song’s gritty aesthetic. MGK had been teasing “Fix Ur Face” for weeks, previewing parts of it during international tour dates before officially dropping the full version.
The release continues a busy stretch for MGK, whose recent project, lost americana, marked another commercial high point, topping Billboard’s rock and alternative charts. He’s also kept momentum going with new singles and collaborations, showing a willingness to shift sounds while keeping his core audience engaged.
