Mase on Diddy’s Possible Release: 'The Church Is Open for Everybody'

The rapper says forgiveness is possible, and suggests Diddy should come speak to him first.

Mase is weighing in on the possibility of Diddy returning home from prison, and he’s saying that whatever happens is up to the Lord.

During a recent episode of It Is What It Is alongside Cam'ron, the Harlem rapper was asked about the idea of his former label head being released early. Rather than dive into specifics about the case, Mase kept his answer short, sweet, and vague.

"I thought that was very interesting," Mase said. "You know, God forgives everybody… it's in God's hands. That's all I could say."

The conversation continued, with Cam asking whether Mase would reach out or visit Diddy if he were to be released. Betha responded with a bit of indirection, speaking generally rather than answering outright.

"The church is open for everybody. You know, God forgives everybody," he said.

"If the system feel a way to forgive him and let him go, then I think after his time is served, your time is served," he continued, more seriously.

Mase, who has long balanced his music career with his role as a pastor, suggested he might be able to play a role in Diddy's next chapter if that moment comes.

"I definitely think that when he gets out I probably should be the first person he talks to," he added. "I really believe that."

The comments are notable given the history between the two. Mase was once a key artist on Diddy's Bad Boy Records, before stepping away from the label and later becoming vocal about past business disputes.

Meanwhile, Diddy's legal situation continues to evolve. Earlier this week, his legal team battled with prosecutors in front of a three-judge panel at the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Complex was on the scene, and you can read our recap here.

The Bad Boy founder is currently serving a 50 month sentence at a federal facility in New Jersey after being found guilty on multiple counts of violating the Mann Act.
