Nicole Westmoreland, who was on the defense team for Diddy during his 2025 trial, has joined his appeal team as the music executive fights to have an early prison release.
In documents obtained by Complex, Westmoreland signed off on being additional counsel along with Alexandra Shapiro as part of Shapiro Arato Bach LLP on March 18. Diddy (real name Sean Combs) is currently serving a four-year prison sentence at New Jersey institution Fort Dix after being found guilty of violating two counts of the Mann Act last July.
Just months before the verdict was delivered, Westmoreland was added to Diddy’s legal team in May 2025. The lawyer was previously involved in the YSL trial and co-represented Quamarvious Nichols.
Months before Diddy’s sentencing, Westmoreland confirmed to CNN that the rapper and producer’s legal team had contacted President Donald Trump for a pardon. Around the same time, Trump seemed resistant to pardon the music mogul, considering his past stance against Trump’s political endeavors.
In March, it was revealed that the 56-year-old Bad Boy Entertainment founder was scheduled to have an earlier release date, being pushed from June 4, 2028 to April 25, 2028.
In a statement to Complex, the Bureau of Prisons did not provide insight into the date change, sharing that information would not be disclosed for "privacy, safety, and security reason."
Meanwhile, celebrities like Yung Miami and Usher have voiced their support for the entertainer in recent weeks. In an interview with Forbes last month, Usher claimed that Diddy had been "misrepresented" and instead chooses to see him as "a legacy."
