Lizzo is embracing the internet jokes surrounding her new collaboration with Sexyy Red instead of running from them.
After releasing the video for “HOES,” their new single tied to the upcoming Scary Movie 6 soundtrack, Lizzo responded to a comment on social media questioning why the visual looked like “an SNL skit.”
“I actually can answer this,” Lizzo wrote on X.
She then explained that the exaggerated style of the video was intentional, comparing it to the type of parody comedy that Saturday Night Live has popularized over the years.
“Our video is a form of parody,” she wrote, later adding that both SNL and her team create “high quality music videos.”
Lizzo finished the post by saying she felt “honored by the comparison” before encouraging fans to stream the song.
“HOES,” produced by Hit-Boy, pairs Lizzo’s theatrical energy with Sexyy Red’s raw, raunchy raps. The music video also features appearances from the Wayans Brothers.
The release continues building anticipation for the long-awaited Scary Movie 6, which recently dropped its first trailer. The film marks the return of several franchise veterans, including Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall.
The trailer references a range of modern horror hits, including Smile, M3GAN, Get Out, and Scream, as the franchise prepares for its first installment in more than a decade.
