Jim Jones has made it clear he's still very much interested in facing Cam'ron in a VERZUZ, and that he's already thinking about how the format should play out.
During an appearance on HipHop Nation with Torae, Jones was asked about the possibility of squaring off against his former Dipset brethren and whether the VERZUZ would focus strictly on their solo catalogs or include the group's classic records.
The question comes just weeks after Jones publicly challenged Cam'ron to a Harlem-based VERZUZ showdown. Torae pointed out that while both rappers have strong solo discographies, leaving out Dipset's catalog would be difficult.
"The Jim Jones solo catalog is strong. Jim Jones features, but them Dipset records got to happen," Torae said.
Fabolous, who was also present, agreed, arguing that excluding those songs would shortchange fans. "I think it's doing a disservice taking them songs out," he said.
Maino, who rounded out the guests alongside Dave East, also questioned how the battle would work if the group's biggest records were removed from consideration.
Jones appeared open to including the Dipset material, although he stopped short of laying out a full format. "I'll tell you what," Jones responded. "Let me know when it's... send him over here."
The comments are the latest development in Jones' ongoing campaign to get Cam'ron into the VERZUZ ring. Over Memorial Day weekend, the Harlem rapper publicly challenged Cam through Instagram, calling for the two to settle years of tension in front of fans.
"Tell ya mans I wanna do a verse against him," Jones wrote while referencing Dipset's memorable 2021 VERZUZ appearance against The Lox.
He also suggested holding the event in Harlem and jokingly claimed Cam hadn't spent much time in the neighborhood recently.
Jones and Cam'ron helped turn Dipset into one of the most influential crews of the early 2000s alongside Juelz Santana and other members of the collective. Together, they released a catalog of music that helped define an era of New York hip-hop.
Despite their shared history, the pair have repeatedly exchanged public shots over the years as personal and business disagreements resurfaced.
For now, Cam'ron has yet to publicly respond to either Jones' original challenge or his latest comments about how a potential battle should be structured.
