Deiondra Sanders shared a few thoughts about her relationship with Jacquees, a year removed from their split.
In a series of posts on X on Thursday (June 11), Sanders, the daughter of Deion Sanders, admitted she was “so in love” with Jacquees that she “ignored every warning.”
“My family tried to tell me,” she wrote. “Even his ex tried to tell me. Matter of fact, she made a whole song about it, and I still convinced myself that what we had was real.”
Sanders continued, “I just feel hurt, disappointed, and honestly, I need some time.”
During her appearance on Deep End with Lecrae, Deiondra opened up about her family’s less than enthusiastic reaction to finding out that she was expecting a child with Jacquees.
“They really didn't like him for the way that he treated me, so they was really mad,” she said, before revealing how her father handled the news a bit differently.
“My dad knew the issues I had with fibroids and stuff like that,” she said. “He knew I always wanted a family so he was like, ‘Okay, I understand that.’ He actually wasn't as mad as I thought he would be.”
Deiondra also spoke about realizing that she was blinded by love, and coming to terms with the decisions that she made during that time.
“I had to forgive myself ‘cause like no matter how much in love I was, love make you do some crazy things and it make you blind,” she said. “Seeing it from the outside, it's like dang, I really deserve better, and it's like, Deiondra, you know you would have never put up with that normally.”
While confident that she could have been with anyone, Deiondra said she never dated someone based on their financial status. “The truth is, I fell in love and was sold a dream, later to find out I was just a rebound,” she wrote.
“I take full accountability,” Sanders concluded.
Sanders and Jacquees welcomed their first child on the same day as Deion’s birthday. The month prior, the two held a baby shower where the singer proposed to Deiondra, who said yes.
Following their split last year, Deiondra and Jacquees have been involved in a public disputes over co-parenting.
