Usher unintentionally found himself joining in on the '67' phenomenon during the taping of a new online show with his sons. In the debut episode of Instagram's new Carversations campaign, the legendary singer takes a ride with his sons Cinco, 18, and Naviyd, 17, but before they hop in the car, Usher reflects on the drives he used to take with them as children.
"We used to ride in the van everywhere. You guys were 6, 7, 8 years old,
somewhere in that area," Usher says in the clip.
"Did you say 6-7?" Cinco asks.
The eight-time Grammy winner tries to play it off by clarifying that he was referring to his sons' ages, but Cinco jokes: "This ain't the same."
Naviyd also put his father onto a new buzzword, dubbing himself and Cinco "screenagers." "It's the online age," Naviyd said. "We're screenagers, right?"
"That's not a real thing," Cinco replied.
Carversations, Instagram's new content series, also provides insight into the platform having new Teen Accounts, which parents can monitor to ensure that their kids are safe.
Later in the video, Naviyd jokes that Usher's generation is "from the Ice Age," but asks who his father would DM if Instagram was around when he was younger.
"Anybody that I wanted to collaborate with that was an artist, creative people who were doing things similar to what I wanted to accomplish because collaboration is so important," Usher replies.
Along with social media, Usher's children have introduced him to newer music, like last month, when the Coming Home vocalist attended a PinkPantheress concert with Naviyd. Months before then, Naviyd DMed the British pop artist using his father's Instagram account.
