Trina has come to the defense of her husband, Benjamin "Swurv" Kearse, after an onstage incident involving the pair was misread.
As AllHipHop reports, a video from a recent performance in Miami showed Trina being distracted and visibly upset at an argument occurring behind her while onstage.
To put the confrontation to a stop, she pulled her husband out of it, and he stood on the other side of the stage while Trina continued performing her 2008 song, "Single Again."
Later, Trina gestured for the music to be paused while she inquired about what the issue was amongst the onstage crew. "Everybody back the fuck up off the stage, first of all," she said. "Whatever, whoever, back the fuck up off the stage."
The remarks incited cheers from the crowd before Trina continued her performance. The Miami rapper would later go to Instagram to explain that she was not reprimanding Swurv, who she married in May 2024.
"I was NOT checking my husband. I was making sure he was good due to an altercation that took place on stage," she said. "Too many people with bad energy. So I made everybody back up. I’m gonna always protect mine. Stop with the false narrative and lies."
Last year, Swurv, who starred on Love & Hip Hop: Miami alongside Trina, was arrested for breaking a man's nose during an assault in 2023.
The victim alleged that he was crossing the street when Swerv’s Dodge Charger abruptly hit a stop sign, which the man accidentally hit with his hand. Swerv was said to have followed the man to a nearby residence, where he punched him multiple times and fractured his nose.
