Tiny Harris gave insight on being a mother to children who are old enough to date.
The R&B vocalist, who shares three biological children with her husband, T.I., caught up with TMZ last week and was asked about women who date significantly younger men. Harris also has an older child, 30-year-old singer Zonnique Pullins, from a previous relationship.
The reporter posed the question by bringing up Solange’s son, 21-year-old model Juelz Smith, who went viral earlier this month after being filmed canoodling with 41-year-old reality television star Tommie Lee. The Baddies West star would later deny that she and Smith were romantically involved.
The XSCAPE member began by saying that she didn’t want to get into “nobody’s mess,” but voiced concern about her two sons, King, 21, and Major, 17, hypothetically dating an older woman.
“I wouldn’t want it, because once that thrill of dating an older woman gets old, then they’re gonna wanna move on to somebody younger, because these young girls are out here wilding,” she explained. Harris, who married T.I. in 2010 after nine years of dating, is five years her husband’s senior.
The singer added that if her sons were to pursue an older woman, she would let them “handle his own life” but would give them guidance. “Then whatever he decides is going to be on him. He got to live his own life,” she added.
Harris also agreed that there’s a double standard between men and women in dating younger. Along with her four biological children, Harris is stepmother to T.I.’s older children, Messiah (or Buddy Red), 26, Domani, 25, and Deyjah, 24.
