Sabrina Carpenter surprised fans during her second Coachella performance by bringing out Madonna for a couple songs.
On Friday (April 17), the two-time Grammy winner performed Short n' Sweet song "Juno" before bringing out the pop icon. "Have you ever tried this one?" Carpenter sang, before Madonna's 1990 classic "Vogue" played over festival speakers.
While dancers began voguing in outfits similar to the ones worn in the song's music video, Madonna emerged on a stage platform wearing shorts, a bustier, a leather jacket and some knee-high boots. The two singers went on to recite the song's third verse.
Carpenter joined Madonna in performing some of her memorable hits, including "Bring Your Love" and "Like a Prayer." During a sentimental portion of the set, Madonna thanked the Man’s Best Friend vocalist for inviting her to perform alongside her. "You can have whatever you want," Carpenter replied. "Clothes off my back."
Madonna went on to share that it was 20 years ago that she played Coachella tied to her 2006 album Confessions on a Dance Floor. In July, the seven-time Grammy winner will be releasing the album’s sequel, appropriately titled Confessions II. The upcoming project is led by new single "I Feel So Free."
Madonna recalled it being "such a thrill" to have performed the original Confessions for the first time in the United States while at Coachella in 2006. "It’s like a full-circle moment, you know? Very meaningful for me," Madonna said.
The pop icon went on to address the new Moon of Taurus and said it was an "auspicious evening for so many reasons." Madonna went on to give the crowd an astrology lesson in strengthening communication and resisiting confrontation.
"In all circumstances, for the rest of the month, let’s try to get along," Madonna urged. "Let’s try to be together, let’s try to avoid disagreements."
This year’s Coachella continues for two more nights, with co-headliner Justin Bieber returning to the stage on Saturday (April 18).
