Madonna is teaming up with dating app Grindr for the vinyl release of her upcoming 15th studio album, Confessions II.
Ahead of the July 3 release of the sequel to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor, the pop icon and "motha" of the LGBTQIA+ community has teamed up with Grindr for a digital universe based around the LP.
Grindr, a social networking platform for LGBTQIA+ users, has welcomed Madonna in "taking over" the app to invite "community into her world — just in time for Pride season."
On the profile grid of users, one block will be dedicated to the seven-time Grammy winner, and upon tapping on it, a message from her pops up.
"Hi Grindr. It’s Motha. I made an exclusive vinyl of my new album just for you," she says. "I could have dropped it anywhere but I wanted to go where the hottest action was, so I got on the grid. Are you ready for Confessions II?"
Along with the Grindr-exclusive picture disc of Confessions II, exclusive content and other limited-edition releases are also available.
Earlier this month, Madonna released the album’s lead single, "I Feel So Free," and joined Sabrina Carpenter as a guest performer during the second weekend of Coachella. Following the performance, Madonna claimed on Instagram Stories that her and Carpenter's stage costumes "went missing."
Confessions II follows Madonna’s 2019 album, Madame X, and will be co-produced entirely by electronic musician Stuart Price, who also produced the first Confessions.
In a less official collaboration, Lil Nas X used Grindr (sort of) back in 2022 to promote his "Late to da Party" single with NBA YoungBoy.
X shared the pre-save link for the song alongside some very goofy looking cover art that even featured a Shutterstock watermark. Not long after, he shared a very obviously fake announcement that he had teamed with Grindr to offer "free cock" when people pre-save the YoungBoy-assisted track.
