Jill Scott might live her life like it's "Golden," but she's seen financial turmoil along with two divorces.

The R&B legend and actress was a guest on the Sunday (December 21) episode of podcast Million Dollaz Worth of Game, and during a discussion about facing hardships, Scott opened up about past financial repercussions and being twice divorced.

"It's like all the lessons that you get, all the things that deter you are really the impetus for your greatness," she told podcast co-host Gillie Da Kid. "These things are character building. And you learn as you go."

"Nobody's perfect. And I'm divorced twice. Like, there's no way that I've had a perfect existence," Scott admitted. "I've lost more money than people have ever made or ever will multiple times."

After Gillie asked whether Scott's monetary losses were from divorce, Scott said it was in fact from "other shit."

The vocalist was first married to Lyzel Williams, the inspiration behind her 2000 song "He Loves Me (Lyzel In E Flat)," from 2001 to 2007. Scott would marry her second husband, Mike Dobson, in June 2016, but would file for divorce fifteen months later, citing irreconcilable differences and “inappropriate marital conduct," per Essence. The divorce was finalized in 2018. Scott also shares a 16-year-old son, Jett Roberts, with her ex-fiancé, musician Lil John Roberts.

Scott added that her first husband took "some" of her money following their divorce, although their relationship is "good" now.

"No love lost. That's my friend to this day. Now the second one," Scott added while shaking her head. "Not at all. Nada. Nunca."

Scott will soon revisit the trials of marriage and divorce in the upcoming third installment of Why Did I Get Married?, where she'll return as Sheila.
