Millions of fans logged into Ticketmaster in hopes of securing Jay-Z anniversary concert tickets to start the week.
On Monday (March 23), a reported 1.6 million were in the queue to purchase tickets for the rapper’s upcoming Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint anniversary concerts at Yankee Stadium. The event, which celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of Reasonable and twenty-fifth anniversary of Blueprint, will be held at the historic New York City stadium on July 10 and July 11.
Tickets resale prices reportedly in the thousands, with Stupid Dope reporting that even bleacher seats are climbing to an abnormal $12,000. Screenshots from the Ticketmaster queues appeared to show that night two of the two-day residency was favored, with more than 847,000 trying to buy tickets, while the first night had 816,000 in the queue.
The 33-time Grammy winner has nodded to the upcoming concerts by returning the umlaut to his name and releasing archival material since the top of the year. Days before the anniversary shows were announced, Hov was named as headliner of this year’s Roots Picnic, which will be held at Philadelphia’s Belmount Plateau on May 30. Also on the bill are Erykah Badu, Brandy, Kehlani, T.I., Mariah the Scientist and more.
For fans who have copped their RD and Blueprint concert tickets, they’re likely on to finding 1990s and early 2000s-inspired fits, as throwback Roc-A-Fella jerseys, Yankee fitted caps and oversized jeans have trended since the residency was announced. The shows could also be a teaser for a potential first Jay-Z album in nearly a decade, following his thirteenth studio album, 4:44.
