Doja Cat says she intends to take lengthy hiatus following the release of her fifth studio album, Vie.
The rapper-singer appears on the latest issue of Elle UK and revealed to the publication that she will often “demand” time from her team.
“They’ve helped me to find pockets between the really busy moments,” Doja said.
But while the Grammy winner has a round-the-clock schedule, it may soon slow down, as she’s recently been focused on painting.
“I think I want to take three years off. I want to just do whatever,” Doja continued. “I might do another mural. I’m going to furnish this whole upper area of my house because there’s literally nothing in here and there’s been nothing in here for four years or five. So, that’s bizarre.”
Doja, who’s currently on the European leg of the Tour Ma Vie Tour, brings the trek to North America on Oct. 1, beginning with a concert in Detroit. Vie saw modest success upon its release in September 2025, although it made top 5 of the Billboard 200. The album has sold over 300,000 units globally.
Weeks after Vie arrived, Doja jokingly looked for streams and album sales in a series of tweets.
To date, the rapper’s highest-selling album is 2021’s Planet Her, which has sold over 3 million album equivalents and is RIAA-certified double platinum. By her fourth album, Scarlet, Doja distanced herself from pop music sensibilities before returning to the genre on Vie.
