Ne-Yo’s polyamorous lifestyle is once again a hot topic of conversation.
The “So Sick” singer stopped by the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast, where hosts Tish and Brandi Cyrus asked about his three girlfriends.
“We are a family. We love each other, and it's a beautiful thing, man. It genuinely is,” he said around the 55:25 minute mark. “It's not as difficult as you would think.”
He did say that the relationship requires the three women to have a certain approach.
“It definitely takes a mindset to say, ‘Okay, we are sharing this one person, which means that there will at some point come a time where I want attention and I'm not going to be able to get it.’ You have to accept that. You have to be okay with that. Understand that that's the reality.
“And once you lock into that and go, ‘All right, so my time is my time. Our time is our time.’ And I have to make sure that I'm paying attention to both. It's about us, but it's also about them, and it's just three different women, three different personalities,” Ne-Yo added, before calling it a “labor of love.”
He told the hosts that he’s known Cristina, Arielle, and Moneii for years, but they’ve only been together as a “collective” for about three years now.
“People hear it…and they instantly go to sex. Sex is one very small [part] of a much larger pot,” he explained. “It's community above anything else. It's everybody working together towards one goal. It's a real thing.”
Over the weekend, Ne-Yo took to Instagram to celebrate his anniversary with his three girlfriends.
“Most can only dream of a love like this. Most can only imagine what it feels like to wake up smiling every morning, walking into whatever the day may bring loving life, knowing your team is strong and the love is real. To most it can only be a fantasy. BUT IT’S OUR REALITY. And I recognize you all as the blessings you are,” he wrote.
Ne-Yo was previously married to Crystal Renay, whom he divorced in 2023. The exes share three kids. He also shares two children with Monyetta Shaw-Carter and two children with Sade Jenea Bagnerise. He began exploring a polyamorous lifestyle following his divorce.
