Ne-Yo is detailing how he operates in a polyamorous relationship with three women.

The R&B singer-songwriter was a guest on the Wednesday (Jan. 14) episode of talk show Sherri and told host Sherri Shepherd about dating his three girlfriends following his 2023 divorce from Crystal Renay.

While announcing her plans to divorce the father of her three children, Renay claimed that she had endured eight years of "lies and deception" and claimed the "When You're Mad" vocalist repeatedly cheated on her.

On Sherri, Ne-Yo explained that his aim in dating multiple women was to be honest with them.

"I own the things that I did in that marriage to mess it up. I own it completely," he explained. "And I decided I didn't want to be the reason that anybody ever felt like that ever again."

Ne-Yo said that he had been dating one of his girlfriends longer than the other two women and that he introduced them all before pursuing a polyamorous arrangement.

"I think the the main understanding is I'm not in three relationships. I'm in one relationship with three people," he said. "And we figure out ways to make everything work."

The father of seven shared that he has to get creative with Valentine's Day gifts for his girlfriends. He said they all have different tastes, although there are times were they go on group outings.

"As far as like where we go and what we do, that we decide together," Ne-Yo continued. "We go to one restaurant. We go to one concert or whatever it is that we doing, and then everybody gets the individual gift, and everybody's happy."

On whether having to plan time for each of his girlfriends gets tiresome, Ne-Yo coyly said, "I've never been afraid of hard work."

Elsewhere, the singer reiterated that his girlfriends cannot have another boyfriend, although he hasn't asked them for exclusivity.

"I deal in partnership as opposed to ownership," he said. "I don't want to own you. I don't want to possess you. I want to partner in this, and we can partner and work it out that way. But if the exclusivity is mine, then it's mine, damn it. You ain't giving it to nobody else."

On an October episode of podcast Joe and Jada, Ne-Yo called his 2023 divorce "ugly" and said that he and his girlfriends have relationship problems similar to monogamous couples.

"All that shit is real. You going to argue over stuff, but again, at the end of the day, as long as you are head of household and everybody understands that, then arguments don't last long," he said at the time.
