Ne-Yo being in a polyamorous relationship has appeared to heal the R&B singer of his past dating and marriage trauma.
The "So Sick" artist, who's currently dating four women, was a guest on Big Boy's Neighborhood this week, and around the 40-minute mark of the video below, he was asked about balancing his relationships.
When Big Boy asked if the women knew about each other, Ne-Yo said, "Absolutely, yeah. That's the beauty of it."
"I wasted so much time and money just lying for nothing," the 3-time Grammy winner continued. "If I had known... Of course, you hear all the time, honesty is the best policy, you go, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, all right I'ma go ahead and tell this lie and keep this secret but I realize now that if I had just been honest from the jump, I could have saved myself a whole bunch of headache and heartache and everything else."
As for approaching the women about his needs, Ne-Yo expressed that he had to "draw his line in the sand." "You go, 'Listen, this is what it is, this is what it's not and and let her make the choice. You'll find the ones that that that rock the way you rock."
Ne-Yo also shared that while the women don't live with him, he keeps them "very close," although he spends most of his time with his seven children. With his ex-wife, Crystal Renay, Ne-Yo has three children, while he shares two with Sade Jenea Bagnerise, and his two oldest with his former fiancé, Monyetta Shaw-Carter.
The singer also shared that one of his girlfriends has been around for "a few years," longer than the other women. "I just basically decided after my divorce I decided you know what I ain't lying to nobody no more," he explained. "I hurt a lot of people with just being dishonest about things that I could have been honest about so I'm not doing that no more."
Ne-Yo said he took the original girlfriend to dinner with the other women, where he saw that the group "got along."
"I feel like it's because I led with honesty I let it be known, 'Listen, I like you but I also like her and I also like herS so here's what I want to do I want to bring this whole thing together. If you with it cool, if you're not that's cool too, no love lost."
He then expressed that when cheating in the past, the women were offended because he took their "choice away." "I never understood what that meant, 'cause it's like, Why would any woman choose to share?" he said. "But to be honest, when you lead with the option, 'I'm not forcing you to do anything I'm not misleading you...that's what works.'"
Elsewhere, he broke down his tour schedule among his girlfriends, sharing that they join him for seven days each before meeting altogether.
Ne-Yo divorced Renay in 2022 after four years of marriage and has since unapologetically championed the polyamorous lifestyle.
