Maluma and his partner, Susana Gómez, are expecting their second child together.
The Colombian artist confirmed the news to Billboard, revealing that Gómez is having a baby boy.
Maluma kept the pregnancy under wraps for five months before announcing it on Mother's Day via an Instagram post, captioned with only a baby-blue heart emoji.
The photo showed the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Paris Londoño Gómez, and Maluma both planting kisses on Gómez's baby bump.
Maluma explained the decision to stay quiet.
"First and foremost, for the sake of health at home. It felt lovely to enjoy a large part of my [partner's] pregnancy without having to think about other things—simply being with my family," he told the publication.
On learning the baby's sex, the singer said, "With this baby—and especially knowing that it's a boy—I am filled with a happiness and joy that is very different from my first pregnancy."
“This is a very old-school way of thinking, but my grandfather and dad are absolutely thrilled because the family name is going to live on,” he added. “For my grandfather, that is incredibly important … for me, family is very important, and if Grandpa is happy, that makes everything in the family circle work.”
The news arrives in the same week Maluma is set to release his next album, Loco X Volver, on May 14.
