Complex’s 50 Best New York Rappers list has resurfaced.
Though the article was originally posted in 2023, Fat Joe and Jadakiss still discussed it on the latest episode of their podcast, Joe and Jada.
“Complex pulls out a 50 emcees of New York City but Jadakiss ain’t on the top five, dead or alive,” Fat Joe says at around the 1:10 minute mark. “How do you feel when you see this list and you ain’t on the top five, Jada?”
The LOX rapper didn’t care.
“I don’t give a fuck about none of that shit. It don’t bother me at all. They know what I do. They know what I do. Complex know, the list know,” Jada said. “Let’s cut the shit already. But it doesn’t bother me ‘cause they know.”
His response prompted a laugh from Joey Crack. Jadakiss continued, “This is not Chinese arithmetic or nothing crazy. They know what I do, and that’s it. You touch the oven, you know the oven is hot.”
The 2-year-old list ranks Jada at No. 16 and Fat Joe at No. 31. As for the top five, Complex placed Jay-Z at No. 1, Notorious B.I.G. at No. 2, Nas at No. 3, Rakim at No. 4, and LL Cool J at No. 5. It's unclear if the two rappers realize that the list isn't new.
Complex’s ranking of New York’s top 50 best rappers of all time recently went viral on X after multiple users reshared the list, including DJ Vlad.
