The story of TLC is officially heading to the stage, and now the faces bringing that legacy to life have been revealed.

According to People, CrazySexyCool — The TLC Musical, set to debut this summer in Washington, D.C., has locked in its leading trio, putting three rising performers in the spotlight to portray one of the most influential groups in music history.

Taking on the role of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins is Holli’ Gabrielle Conway, a Broadway veteran whose résumé includes Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and Lempicka.

Jade Milan steps in as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, coming off her run in Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen and past performances in The Lion King.

Rounding out the trio is Stoney B. Woods as Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, with credits spanning The Book of Mormon, television appearances, and her own Emmy-nominated children’s series.

The production, named after TLC’s 1994 blockbuster album, is built around the group’s catalog—think “Waterfalls,” “Creep,” “No Scrubs,” and “Unpretty”—while also digging into the complexities behind the music.

The show is expected to explore their rapid rise, internal tensions, financial struggles, and the personal loss that reshaped the group forever.

Writer and director Kwame Kwei-Armah, known for One Love: The Bob Marley Musical, is leading the creative vision, with choreography by Chloe O. Davis. The show will run from June 12 through August 9, with an official press night scheduled for June 26.

For TLC, the casting represents a meaningful step in translating their story to a new medium. “The moment we saw Holli’, Jade, and Stoney bring our music to life onstage, we felt an immediate connection,” Watkins said in a statement.

Thomas echoed that sentiment, adding, “They carry our story with authenticity and grace… We can’t wait for audiences to experience CrazySexyCool — The TLC Musical.”

Still, not everyone online is convinced. Early reactions across social media have been mixed, with some users questioning whether the casting captures the essence of the group.

Comments like “I don’t see it” and “Has the casting director ever seen TLC?” have circulated alongside comparisons to past portrayals, including the fan-favorite trio from earlier screen adaptations.

Despite the internet discourse, the production is moving forward, aiming to present what Chilli described as “mostly fact with a sprinkle of fiction,” grounded in TLC’s real-life journey.

That journey includes not only chart dominance and cultural impact but also well-documented industry struggles—like their mid-’90s bankruptcy filing despite massive album sales—and the tragic loss of Left Eye in 2002.

Tickets for the production are currently on sale, with additional casting and creative team announcements expected in the coming months.
