Shaboozey is bringing the world of his upcoming concept album into sharper focus with the release of “Cowgirl,” a cinematic new single and video starring Ciara Miller. The clip introduces audiences to Cherie Lee, the central figure in his forthcoming album The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales, and marks the first major visual chapter in the project’s revenge-driven narrative.

Directed by Shaboozey alongside Logan Meis, the video casts Miller in the lead role as a woman on a mission in the Old West. According to Rolling Stone, the visual leans heavily into classic Western imagery while expanding the larger story teased in recent album trailers.

On Instagram, Shaboozey summarized the plot in a few blunt words: “The outlaws took everything. She took it personal. Tonight, ‘Cowgirl’ tells the story of Cherie Lee.”

The casting choice brings together two rising names from different corners of pop culture. Miller became a fan favorite through Bravo’s Summer House, while Shaboozey has spent the last two years transforming from genre-bending newcomer into one of music’s most recognizable crossover stars.

His breakout run included appearances on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, a record-tying stint atop the Billboard Hot 100 with “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” and a Grammy-winning collaboration with Jelly Roll.

The new video also sheds additional light on the album’s overarching story. Shaboozey previously described the project as “a Western about revenge told continuously through every song, centered on the character Cherie Lee.”

According to the album’s official synopsis, Cherie begins her journey after witnessing the murder of her sheriff father by a gang known as the Bootcut Boys. Her pursuit of vengeance eventually collides with an unexpected romance, creating the emotional conflict at the record’s center.

That storyline represents a significant creative leap from 2024’s Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, which Shaboozey previously described as a personal reflection on his life and career. While that album introduced audiences to the artist behind the music, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales is designed as a fully realized narrative universe, complete with recurring characters and interconnected songs.

With “Cowgirl” now serving as the public’s first deep look into that world, anticipation is building ahead of the album’s July 31 release. The rollout will continue into the fall when Shaboozey launches his Outlaws Never Die Tour.
