Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is a free man once again.

In a post on his Instagram on Friday (April 3), 6ix9ine shared a video of him being released from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after serving three months behind bars for violating the conditions of his supervised release. He was greeted by celebrity jeweler Vobara and boasted that he met the ousted Venezuelan president Nicolàs Maduro, who was arrested by U.S. operatives following a large-scale strike against the country in January.

He added that he got a signature from Maduro, who is also being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center, on his SpongeBob, which he affectionately refers to as “Sponge9ine.”

6ix9ine, who hasn’t charted on the Billboard Hot 100 or Billboard 200 albums chart since 2020, was ordered to serve three months in jail after he violated his supervised release multiple times. The violations included possession of cocaine and MDMA, plus a battery incident inside a Florida shopping mall. Because he violated the conditions, a judge also ordered him to serve an additional year of supervised release.

Ahead of serving his sentence, he appeared on multiple streams with Adin Ross and addressed speculation about his mental state upon re-entering the jail where he previously served time.

"I am not suicidal. I do not want to kill myself," 6ix9ine said. "I'm literally going in there for 90 days. I didn't hang myself. Clip this. I did not hang myself. Nothing. I'm not suicidal. I'm nothing. And I'm going to be very cautious." Ross also promised the rapper he would get a “really fucking nice gift” when he’s released.

The timing of his release comes not long after a woman, who is also reportedly his girlfriend, was arrested for allegedly trying to break into the rapper’s Florida home multiple times.
