Singer and rapper Rod Wave is apparently making major bank with his concerts.
The 30-year-old Floridian artist just recently kicked off his Redemption Experience Tour, which will conclude in Miami next month, and he’s also got a new documentary on the way. The documentary has been privately screened for various people, and in a leaked clip, MAC Agency booking agent Andrew Lieber claimed that Rod Wave mae $2 million for a show, saying that he wanted the "world to know" about it.
With three No. 1 albums to his name and an impressive performance at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with his last album, Last Lap, it’s no surprise that Rod Wave is drawing huge crowds with his shows. The viral video also comes off the back of his Grammy Award nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media with “Sinners,” his track for the Sinners soundtrack.
Rod Wave might be pulling in big numbers thanks to his music, but he’s also currently facing a $27 million lawsuit from a touring company that alleged he failed to finish a tour. He recently complained that touring and ticket companies are charging fans extortionate prices, too. “The tour ticket shit so crazy because I could tell the people, ‘Hey, I want to sell this ticket for $55, $85.’ They could do whatever the fuck they want to do with it—motherfucker gone be 300,” Rod said on the Joe Budden Podcast in October. “I can't control that.”
His career hasn’t all gone so smoothly, however, as he was arrested in Fulton County earlier this year on a gun charge. It was his second arrest of the year, following his arrest for aggravated assault and tampering with evidence.
