Freddie Gibbs thinks Gucci Mane’s new track dissing Pooh Shiesty and his crew is equivalent to “snitching.”
In a video shared on his Instagram Stories, Gibbs was seen riding in a car while listening to Guwop’s new song, “Crash Dummy.” On the track, Gucci appears to address Pooh Shiesty—who was formerly signed to his record label, 1017 Records—after allegedly kidnapping and attempting to rob his label head.
Gibbs captioned his video, “This shit gotta be A.I.,” and appeared confused. “N***a snitched on a Zaytoven beat, that’s crazy,” he said.
Pooh and eight others, including his father and Big30, could face life in prison after being charged in an alleged Dallas kidnapping and robbery. Prosecutors alleged that Shiesty and his co-conspirators lured several victims into a studio in January under the impression it was for a business meeting, only to hold them at gunpoint demanding to be released from a business contract.
“Tell the truth, you went out like a real crash dummy, and after all that, boy, you still signed to me,” Gucci raps in the song, in which he also alleges that he “thought” he was attending a business meeting only to find out “it was a setup.” “I walk in the room, you can feel the pressure building/N***a dapped me up there, whole time they plotting against me.”
Shiesty’s lawyer, John Helms, has challenged the government’s framing of the incident. “The government tries to characterize this as a dispute over money between Lontrell and his record label, but in this business, things are very often not what they seem, and people's motivations are very often not what they seem,” Helms told The Dallas Morning News last week. “We will be presenting [Shiesty’s] side of the case as the case goes on, and I think it's going to be significantly different from what the government says.”
