With the impending arrival of Drake’s highly anticipated new album Iceman, fans have used it as an opportunity to joke about other rappers releasing similarly titled albums.
Drizzy is slated to finally drop the long-teased Iceman very soon, and understandably, fans are excited about the project. It’ll be his first solo album since his infamous beef with Kendrick Lamar in 2024, which also brought a litany of other artists into the feud, including Future, Metro Boomin, J. Cole, The Weeknd, and more. With anticipation of Iceman at a fever pitch, fans joked that other artists are following suit with similarly titled records.
One of the most obvious jokes, of course, is that K Dot could release a new album titled Fireman, an allusion to the rapper being a boogeyman of sorts for Drake after the arrival of “Not Like Us” and other diss tracks.
Another joke floating around is that J. Cole could drop an Earthman project. Cole famously bowed out of the beef after releasing a diss song directed at Lamar, which he later removed from streaming services. More recently, he suggested that he’s “unqualified” to give an opinion on rap beef because of his decision to withdraw. Joe Budden also recently predicted that Iceman will see Drake, a former collaborator of Cole’s, take shots at the rapper.
Another user on X, formerly Twitter, joked that Rick Ross would release an album titled Fatman. Drake’s warning shot of a diss track, “Push Ups,” initiated a wider conflict within hip-hop, which resulted in Rozay releasing his own track, “Champagne Moments,” just hours after it leaked. On the diss song, Ross accused Drake of getting a nose job and called him a “white boy.”
Another user suggested that the artist formerly known as Kanye West could drop an album named Earthman, and Westside Gunn could drop an album named Snowman.
In another post, a fan did a round-up of several similarly titled albums that other rappers could drop alongside AI-generated mock-ups of album covers. Alongside the obvious K Dot Fireman joke, they jokingly suggested Jay-Z could release Rockman, a reference to Roc Nation, and Diddy could drop Oilman, a reference to authorities alleging that the disgraced music mogul owned industrial amounts of baby oil at his properties.
In yet another, it was joked that Iceman had led to the development of an entire “cinematic universe” of fake album titles and covers.
