Bruno Mars has made it very clear that he doesn't take too kindly to social media critique — especially as it pertains to his new song, "I Just Might."

On Friday (January 9), the pop star dropped the first single from his upcoming fourth studio album, The Romantic — his first solo project since 2016. When a clip of the music video was shared on social media, one person suggested that his sound is getting stale.

"He’s been releasing the same song for the past 10 years," they wrote in a post on X, to which Mars replied: "And u never been shit in yo life."

Mars' clapback comes not long after announcing that he and his Silk Sonic groupmate Anderson .Paak will be heading out on tour in April. The trek will span almost 40 cities, including stops in the United States, as well as Europe and Canada.

They'll be joined by Victoria Monét, Raye and Leon Thomas on select dates, and .Paak has teased that his appearance at the shows might see him don his DJ Pee .Wee persona.

Despite leaving fans waiting for the follow-up to his smash-hit album 2K Magic, he’s remained incredibly active in the years since. Aside from the 2021 Silk Sonic album, An Evening with Silk Sonic, he’s been a part of several high-profile collaborations. Among his biggest is "APT." with Rosé, and "Die With a Smile" with Lady Gaga. He also set out on a headlining tour in 2022, which ran for 58 shows and concluded in late 2024.

The New Romantic is sure to be a huge hit when it lands next month, especially considering all the success Mars has had in the past. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Mars' breakout hit "Just the Way You Are" was certified 21-times Platinum last year, making it the highest-certified single of all-time.
