On the Don’t Be Dumb highlight “Playa,” ASAP Rocky makes it clear how happy he is in his relationship with Rihanna.
With his first new album since 2018, Rocky has given fans plenty to unpack, whether it be the daring production choices or the potential disses directed at his former collaborator, Drake. On the second verse of “Playa,” meanwhile, Rocky takes a moment to boast about how fulfilled he feels being a father to three children with Rihanna, who has been dating since at least 2021.
“Takin’ care of your kids, boy, that’s player shit,” he raps. “One bitch, boy, that’s player shit / No baby mama drama, no new friends, boy, that’s player shit / Don’t switch, boy, that’s hater shit / You snitch, boy, that’s lame as shit / Forever talkin’ shit on someone else relationship / A scale of one to nine, shawty, she a dime.”
While the verse is clearly about how much he loves Rihanna, who he recently revealed his mother encouraged him to date, it could also be some thinly-veiled shots at Drake, who has alluded to Rihanna’s relationship with Rocky in his music. On Drake’s For All the Dogs song “Fear of Heights,” Drake appeared to take subliminal shots at wordplay through wordplay referring to her album Anti.
“I'm anti, I'm anti/ Yeah, and the sex was average with you/ Yeah, I'm anti 'cause I had it with you/ Okay, I'm auntie like your daddy's sister/ Auntie like a family picture/ And I had way badder bitches than you, TBH,” Drake, who previously had an on-again-off-again relationship with Rihanna, raps on the song. “Yeah, that man, he still with you, he can't leave you/ Y'all go on vacation, I bet it's Antigua.”
On the Don’t Be Dumb song “Stole Ya Flow,” Rocky also appeared to refer to Drake’s animosity over Rihanna’s decision to move on. “First you stole my flow, so I stole yo' bitch,” he raps. “N***as getting BBLs, lucky we don't body shame / Throwing dirt on Rocky name, turn around and copy game.”
