Ice Spice will be forced to give a deposition in an ongoing lawsuit brought against her by a wig company.
According to court documents reviewed by Complex, the 26-year-old rapper (legal name Isis Naija Gaston) is being ordered by a New York state judge to answer questions pertaining to a complaint by TheeBellaBrand, LLC.
In April, TMZ reported that the wig company sued Ice late last year over 25 custom wigs that the rapper allegedly agreed to purchase for about $20,000 but never paid for. The company also claimed that Ice blasted them on social media, and is seeking $400,000 to cover lost business opportunities and punitive damages.
Ice filed a motion to dismiss this past April that called the company “overly dramatic” and claimed that they did not provide any evidence of her trying to interfere with their business with her purported social media posts. She claimed that TheeBellaBrand was trying to put “public pressure” on her.
Ice Spice is scheduled for her deposition on September 10 in Manhattan.
The rapper has not released new music since her single “Thootie,” a collaboration with fellow Dominican rapper Tokischa. Her single “Big Guy,” taken from the soundtrack for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, became a viral TikTok dance challenge earlier this year.
