BTS' V is giving fans a glimpse of his dedication to learning English.
The 30-year-old singer (born Kim Tae-hyung) shared an update with fans to his Instagram account on Monday (March 30) where he went through several online language-learning prompts, which he repeated out loud.
Some of those prompts included simple phrases like, “I’ll have this,” “Can we get the bill?,” “What’s good here?” and more.
“I’m locking in for real this time no excuses,” he captioned one of his posts in English.
While all BTS members—which also includes Suga, J-Hope, Jin, Jungkook, and Jimin—have varying levels of English proficiency, the group’s leader RM is BTS' only fluent speaker.
“My English teacher was the sitcom, Friends," he explained on a 2017 episode of Ellen. “Back in the day, when I was like 15, 14, it was quite like a syndrome for all the Korean parents to make their kids watch Friends.
He continued, “I thought I was kind of like a victim at that time, but right now, I'm the lucky one, thanks to my mother. She bought me all 10 DVDs—all the seasons. So firstly, I watched them with the Korean subtitles, and then next time, I watched with the English subtitles, and then I just removed it."
BTS released their fifth full-length album ARIRANG on March 20. The album and its lead single “SWIM” topped the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 charts, respectively.
The global superstars have resumed full-group promotions after completing South Korea's mandatory military service, and will begin their ARIRANG Tour next month.
