RAYE is back in action. After putting the album process on pause due to her car and songwriting books being stolen, the “Escapism” hitmaker revealed that she got her belongings back.
Back in October 2024 — on her 27th birthday — RAYE wrote on Instagram that her car had been stolen, which contained books filled with lyrics to unreleased songs. As a result, RAYE broke the news to her fans that there would be “no second album any time soon.” But in an interview with Capital FM published Monday, October 27, she revealed that the car in question was recently found.
"So it was a rollercoaster journey,” RAYE said. “But what I didn't tell everyone is that the police called me, maybe like two or three months ago, and they were like, 'We found you car.’”
In a miraculous series of events, RAYE also found that her belongings were still intact.
"And I got it back,” RAYE said, “and not only did I get it back, not one thing had been taken out of the car and all my songwriting books were their untouched."
While fans are excited about new music, they might have to wait a little bit longer. RAYE also recently revealed that the album is currently “unfinished,” despite having announced her This Tour May Contain New Music world tour back in September.
Last week, she revealed she would be spending her 28th birthday in the studio working on new music.
"a bit of a loner these days but I don’t mind it at all,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m writing a lot. can’t wait to show you this music, just need to finish it all first.”
If her latest single “Where is My Husband!” is any indication of what’s to come this era, fans can expect some fun, relatable new bops.
