Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds will soon offer a look at his game-changing craft.

On Wednesday, November 12, Deadline reported that a documentary on the prolific singer and songwriter is in the works.

“I’ve often wondered how an unassuming kid from Indianapolis got to where he is today, working with artists and achieving dreams I could’ve never imagined when I first started,” said Babyface in a statement. “This documentary is giving me a chance to go down memory lane with a fine-tooth comb, reexamining the highs and lows of my life and career. I’m discovering where all the songs really came from — and perhaps just as important, the how and why.”

The documentary will be directed by Emmy nominee Chris Moukarbel, known for his work on films like Cypher and Gaga: Five Foot Two. HarbourView Equity Partners is financing the documentary, with United Talent Agency representing the sale.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Babyface has earned 13 Grammys, including 4 Producer of the Year awards. He is known for his own songs, like "Whip Appeal," "Never Keeping Secrets," and "Every Time I Close My Eyes,” as well as his contributions to the works of artists like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Ariana Grande, SZA, Toni Braxton, and more.

In 1989, Babyface founded LaFace Records, alongside L.A. Reid. This label is often attributed for launching the careers of TLC, Pink, T.I., and Outkast.

Additionally, Babyface has produced several iconic soundtracks, including those for The Bodyguard, Soul Food, and Waiting to Exhale.

The documentary will feature interviews with Babyface, as well as some of his collaborators, highlighting an inimitable career. Fans will also see never-before-seen footage from Babyface’s personal archive.

Kenya Barris — known for creating Black-ish and penning the screenplay for Girls Trip — is signed on as a producer for the documentary.

“Babyface is one of one — a culture-defining hitmaker whose impact cannot be denied or overstated,” said Barris in a statement. “We’re honored to be a part of telling his story and grateful that we’re teaming with Harbourview, a company that understands the importance of investing in culture and storytelling like this, to do so. I hope this project not only spotlights Babyface's remarkable career but also gives people a glimpse into the man behind the musical genius, who just might be one of the funniest motherf***ers I’ve ever met.”

Also in the documentary, fans will get a look at rehearsals for Babyface’s upcoming shows at The Palms in Las Vegas.
