A Florida pastor who authored a book about strengthening marriages is now facing legal trouble after authorities say he was involved in multiple marriages at the same time.
According to Village News, Pastor Leslie Williams was taken into custody in late April at his home by local deputies and later booked into the Sumter County Detention Center. He is being held without bond on a charge of bigamy.
According to reports, the case originated outside of Florida. A warrant tied to the investigation was issued in Georgia earlier this month, and Williams is expected to be transferred there to face the charge.
Williams, who operates a ministry from his residence, drew attention on social media after announcing a new marriage in December. In a post shared with followers, he introduced his new wife and expressed excitement about their union. The update, however, reportedly raised questions among some who believed he was already married.
The situation has taken on added scrutiny due to Williams’ work as an author. He wrote a book focused on faith-based relationship advice, offering guidance on how husbands can deepen their connection with their wives through biblical principles.
Authorities have not publicly detailed how many marriages are involved in the case. Williams remains in custody, with extradition proceedings expected to determine when he will be returned to Georgia.
