The frantic search for Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, has entered its fifth day.
On Wednesday night, Savannah, accompanied by her siblings Annie and Cameron, shared a heartbreaking video in which she provided an update on the case, described her mother’s loving spirit, and pleaded with her potential captors.
“Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light," Savannah Guthrie said. "She’s funny, spunky. She has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her, and you’ll see."
Savannah went on to describe her mother’s delicate health and her dire need for medication that she is currently without.
"Our mom is our heart and our home. Her health, her heart is fragile," she continued. "She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs not to suffer. We, too, have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can.”
While it is believed that 84-year-old Nancy was abducted from her home, and there have been multiple reports of ransom notes, the legitimacy of those notes has not yet been confirmed. Savannah acknowledged that she and her family are aware of these notes and are “ready to talk.”
However, Savannah also emphasized that they must have proof of life.
"We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us,” she said.
Through tears, Savannah later spoke to her mom directly.
"Mommy? If you are hearing this, you are a strong woman," she said. "You are God’s precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that even in this valley, He is with you. Everyone is looking for you, Mommy, everywhere.”
Those with any information about Nancy’s whereabouts are encouraged to call 911 or the tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
