The mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has been declared missing.

Nancy Guthrie is 84-years-old and was first reported missing around noon on Sunday, February 1, by a family member. Missing person flyers have been hung up around the area and shared online in hopes that someone may come forward with useful information about her whereabouts.

Nancy is “very alert” and of “good, sound mind,” according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos. She also has no known memory problems. However, she does have some physical ailments that limit her mobility.

Alongside her fourth-hour co-host, Sheinelle Jones, Savannah’s close friend and colleague Jenna Bush Hager shared that Nancy is currently without the medication that she requires for her survival.

On Monday morning, Savannah issued a short statement about the case, saying, “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”

While little has been publicly revealed about what investigators have found while searching Nancy’s Catalina Foothills home, it is known that there is “grave concern” about her well-being.

In a statement, Sheriff Nanos revealed that homicide detectives have joined the search for the missing 84-year-old.

“We don’t typically get the sheriff out to a scene like this, but it’s very concerning what we’re learning from the house,” Nanos said. “It’s not standard — typically our homicide team comes out when we have a homicide, a body. But simply by what the scene was telling us, we felt the need to bring the homicide team.”

A helicopter, search-and-rescue dogs, and drones are all being used to aid in finding Nancy. Many volunteers have also joined the search.

The case is currently being described as a “search and rescue” mission. Those with any information are encouraged to call the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.
