Had Stefon Diggs avoided legal trouble this past year, there is no doubt he would have been one of the hottest free agent commodities in March and would already have a fat new contract. Diggs’ court case lingered over the early days of 2026 NFL free agency, however, and the veteran receiver remains unsigned.

On May 5, Diggs was found not guilty of assaulting his personal chef. The charges stemmed from a Dec. 2, 2025 incident while he was a member of the Patriots. New England released Diggs on March 11, although the release had more to do with salary cap maneuvering than Diggs’ personal issues or on-field production.

Diggs was New England’s leading receiver last season with 85 catches for 1,013 yards. The Patriots signed Diggs in free agency last year on something of a “prove it” deal, as Diggs was coming off a torn ACL he suffered in October of 2024 while a member of the Texans.

Below, we will look at the latest rumors on where Diggs could potentially sign ahead of the 2026-27 NFL season.

Stefon Diggs Chiefs rumors
This week, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer suggested several potential landing spots for Diggs. The first team he brought up was the Chiefs, who desperately need an addition at the wide receiver position.

Just this week, news came that Kansas City’s top WR Rashee Rice will miss the remainder of the Chiefs’ OTAs and their mandatory minicamp in June due to the fact that he’ll be serving a 30-day jail sentence for violating his probation. There is also the possibility that the NFL could impose further punishment for Rice.

Tyreek Hill also remains a free agent and has been linked to the Chiefs for months, given his history there. It is unlikely that Kansas City would sign both Hill and Diggs.

Stefon Diggs Commanders rumors
Washington seems like a logical place for Diggs to land. The receiver grew up in Maryland, and the Commanders are in need of another quality pass catcher.

Diggs’ brother Trevon is also a free agent and has been linked to the Commanders, given that Dan Quinn is the head coach. Trevon Diggs’ top years in the NFL came while Quinn was the defensive coordinator of the Cowboys.

It is a real possibility that both Diggs brothers wind up in D.C..

Stefon Diggs to Falcons rumors
Breer also mentioned the Falcons as a prime destination for Diggs. The receiver has ties to new Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski, as Stefanski was a part of the Vikings offensive staff for Diggs’ entire tenure in Minnesota.

The Falcons could certainly use another option at receiver to complement Drake London.

Stefon Diggs to Rams rumors
In recent days, the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, ESPN’s Matt Bowen, and Breer have all mentioned the Rams as a great fit for Diggs’ services.

The Rams, the Super Bowl favorites at Fanatics Sportsbook at +750, are going all-in for a championship this season. They have already tried to tinker with their wide receiver room this off-season as they looked at swapping Davante Adams for Philadelphia’s AJ Brown. The NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo told Rich Eisen this week that an Adams for Brown swap was “really close” to being a done deal at one point.

An Adams-Puka Nacua-Diggs WR trio would be lethal.

Stefon Diggs to the Patriots rumors
The Diggs—Patriots breakup was as amicable as possible, as both sides seem open to a reunion. The hold-up here is, again, salary cap-related as New England is likely to land Brown via trade after June 1.

The Patriots could theoretically trade for Brown and re-sign Diggs but it would be on a deal that Diggs and his agent likely would not enjoy (less than $10 million for one year). A Foxborough reunion between the two parties would likely only happen if none of the teams listed above step up to the plate.
