Matthew McConaughey on Creativity vs. The Algorithm | Idea Generation
In 2009, a 29-year-old broadly acknowledged as the sexiest man alive had an idea. Nearly two decades into a hugely successful acting career, Matthew McConaughey found himself pigeon holed as a romantic comedy leading man, and longed to fortify a more meaningful legacy.
So at the height of his career he retreated from Hollywood, both physically and figuratively, moving back to his home state of Texas, and refusing roles that didn’t match his artistic vision.
After two years away from the movie industry, he returned in the 2010s with a series of iconic dramatic roles in projects like “Interstellar,”’ “True Detective,” and an Oscar-winning performance in “Dallas Buyers Club.”
More recently, McConaughey has become a bestselling author and tequila entrepreneur, and stars in the Apple Plus Original “The Lost Bus,” continuing to find new platforms and outlets to express his expansive and ever expanding world view
…and it all started with one idea.
