Omar Epps on the State of Black Films, Being Outside, and ‘Moses The Black’ | Complex News
Omar Epps is playing a Malik character once again, but this time it is for his latest film ‘Moses The Black.’ Omar Epps sat down with Complex News’ Mami Tiff to discuss not only his latest film, but growing up in New York and being outside without a phone, going to LaGuardia High School, and his path to his first film ‘Juice.’
The two also talk about the state of Black classic movies today, and what he predicts will be revered as a Black classic film a decade from now. Epps also praises Ryan Coogler for his work and reveals he’d like to work with him. Epps and Mami Tiff also discuss his connection to hip hop and being on set with rappers throughout his career, and reflect on Black classics he has starred in like ‘Love & Basketball’ and ‘The Wood.’
