Todd Snyder Reimagines Timex's Classic 1976 Lexington Watch in Modern Colors

"It’s the first time we’ve ever done a rectangular watch, but it feels really timely," Snyder said.

With his newly unveiled reimagining of Timex’s 1976 Lexington watch, Todd Snyder is aiming to bring a sense of “sartorial ease” to wrists across the world.

For Snyder and company, the fresh take on the 1976 Lexington also marks a first for the ongoing collaboration. Prior to this release, Snyder had not crafted a timepiece with a rectangular shape.

“Doing this classic watch in these modern colors, pulled from my Spring/Summer runway show, gives it a kind of sartorial ease,” Snyder explained in a statement shared with Complex. “The Lexington came out in the 70s, but it has such a timeless design that it would look at home any time between the Art Deco period to today’s Ivy style resurgence. It’s the first time we’ve ever done a rectangular watch, but it feels really timely.”

Prospective owners will note shades of khaki, butter yellow, and black—inspired by both 1950s Havana and 1980s Miami—in the offered colorways. Additionally, Snyder has updated the traditional Roman numerals for the modern watch-wearer.

The Timex x Todd Snyder 1976 Lexington, retailing for $169, is available starting today (April 23) via the official Timex and Todd Snyder sites, as well as at physical Todd Snyder stores.

Below, get a closer look at the timepiece, which boasts water-resistance up to 30 meters and a genuine leather strap.
