Band of Vices, a leading contemporary art space in Los Angeles founded by Terrell Tilford, has announced the opening of a new “multisensory and multigenerational” group exhibition featuring work from more than 26 different artists.
In a recently shared statement, Tilford said the goal of the C11H17NO3 (i.e. mescaline) exhibition is to give visitors an “almost-hallucinogenic” experience built atop the work of a wide variety of creatives.
“After more than a year of sensory deprivation, C11H17NO3 aims to provide a visceral and almost-hallucinogenic experience through a monumental group of artists known for their colorful hybrid vitality and approach, both in concept along with size,” Tilford, who also serves as curator and creative director of Band of Vices, said. “C11H17NO3 will be showcased within the new Band of Vices Sacred House in the beautiful, yet underrated West Adams Arts District of LA, furthering the legacy of culture and vitality within the community we cherish.”
Debuting with the Band of Vices exhibition is an “ever-evolving” sculpted piece from Mr. Timothy Washington, a noteworthy member of the Black Arts Movement.
Also featured in the space will be work from artists Abi Salami, Alicia Piller, Ariel Vargassal, Barry Yusufu, Bryan Lee Tilford, Chelle Barbour, Cristina Martinez, Daniel Nartey, Diana Rosa, Edyta Pachowitz, Floyd Strickland, Hasef, Idris Habib, Joseph Brandon, John Trevino, Kaye Freeman, Lauren Pearce, Miles Regis, Panni Malekzadeh, Patrick Henry Johnson, REWA, Robert Peterson, Shantell Martin, Tommy Mitchell, Victoria Cassinova, and more.
The exhibition will be available for viewing in Band of Vices’ new space known as Sacred House starting Sept. 18 and running through Oct. 30.
