Baltimore-born skate brand Carpet Company is expanding its footprint with a new retail space that blends fashion, art, and community under one roof.

The brand, founded in 2015 by brothers Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem, is opening a new location inside a historic building in Baltimore that dates back to at least 1929. Originally constructed as a bank and designed by local architect Clyde N. Friz, the structure spans roughly 10,400 square feet, with just over 1,300 square feet dedicated to retail. A grand opening is set for Saturday, April 11.

Carpet Company acquired the building in late 2023 and has since transformed it into a multi-purpose hub that reflects the brand’s DIY ethos and deep ties to the city.

Inside the retail space, customers can expect a curated mix of Carpet’s signature gear alongside a wide-ranging sneaker selection. The shop also highlights Baltimore’s music scene, featuring a rack dedicated to local bands and collaborators, including groups like Turnstile and Angel Du$t.

At the center of the store sits a standout design piece, a custom chrome pyramid display that anchors the layout and serves as a focal point for merchandise.

Beyond retail, the new location introduces a café created in partnership with Goodneighbor. The space incorporates imported Egyptian tile, custom sinks, and a concrete service bar crafted by local artisan Lukeworks. The interior design also leans into a curated aesthetic, featuring furniture from brands like Frama and House of Finn Juhl.

Upstairs, the second floor will function as an art gallery, hosting rotating exhibitions from both local creatives and artists from outside the region.
