Women’s apparel brand STRIPT partnered with Goodwill’s Greater Washington D.C. location to supply local residents with access to sought-after pieces of clothing instead of dumping it in a landfill.
On Saturday (May 16), more than 2,000 shoppers lined up outside Goodwill’s Greater Washington’s Bowie to snag more than 3,000 items donated by STRIPT founder and chief brand officer, Ari Davis. 100 percent of proceeds have gone towards Goodwill’s free job training and adult education programs.
The event came 2 years after the inaugural collaboration between STRIPT and Goodwill, which drew more than 500 attendees and resulted in 400 items sold in the first half-hour.
“STRIPT has always been mission-driven. It's never just been about cute clothes or social media, it's about empowering women and giving back,” Davis stated.
“Our collaboration with Goodwill is the first of its kind, and it works on every level: customers get access to pieces they might not otherwise afford, clothing stays out of landfills, and every dollar goes to the Goodwill Foundation, which provides free job training and placement to people in my community,” she continued. “That's a win for everyone involved, and I hope it inspires others to give back.”
Since being established in 2020, STRIPT has reached a nationwide customer base spanning D.C., Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York City, Houston and other major cities. The size-inclusive streetwear can be purchased on its official website.
